WCIC/Playmate Head Start Programs are federally funded low-income programs for children ages 3-5.

The purpose of WCIC/Playmate Head Start Programs is to provide a comprehensive framework that will increase social competency and school readiness by:

1. Blending Multi-Cultural and anti-biased educational curriculum;

2. Fostering development of the whole child;

3. Integrating self-identity, cognitive, language, physical, creative, emotional, and social development; and

4. Reflecting and honoring the cultures of children, their families, and their communities.

WCIC/Playmate Head Start Programs currently serves 120 Head Start children in Sacramento County. The majority of the children are from the Oak Park community. The ethnicities served are: Caucasian, African-Americans, Latinos, Hmong, Mien, Lao, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Pakistanian, Napali, and Native-American.  The languages spoken are: English, Spanish, Hmong, Mien, Lao, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, and American Sign.

 

WCIC/Playmate Head Start Programs

Hours are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

The AM classes begin at 7:30 AM to 11:30AM.                                             

The PM classes begin at 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM.                                             

The Full- Day class begins at 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM year-round.
